Jim Thibodeaux - In the songwriting process I don't think of what category this little gift of creativity is going to fit.I try to get out of the way as much as possible and let it lead me where it wants to go. Usually somewhere between country and heavy metel, so when somebody asks, I say it's Rock and Roll because it's such a broad term. I dig the way the Beatles write a song like Yesterday, then next up is Helter Skelter.

Recording - My main guitar is a Fender Strat...I also play (and write on) a Blueridge acoustic...I've had this old FUNKY no name Bass for about 25 years, it looks Cool and has a lot of character, it even sounds pretty good.I record with it when I don't use my Yamaha keyboard, which has a lot of voicings. I like the Yamaha because it gives me access to a lot of different instruments I can't play, but I can ruff it on the keyboard. We recently had a Pearl drum kit donated to the music room, Thank you!!...a small Mackie board and the computer finish out the line up.

Influences - On one hand I go long periods of deliberately not listening to anything when I'm writing. I think for me it's the stuff you grow up on, that really sticks with you. Early on the Beatles, Elton, Rod, Zeplin, way too many to name, I'ts just the Vibe, the feel of a piece that gets me. I really paid attention to the singer/songwriter type of people to see how they put together their music.
